John Corr (Chief Investment Officer)
John Corr is the Responsible Manager and CIO of Fortitude Capital.
Prior to joining Fortitude Capital, John was for six years the Director of Proprietary trading at Citigroup Global Markets Australia. He worked in proprietary trading for eight years, trading local and overseas equities and equity derivatives, index futures and was responsible for the management and development of a team of equity proprietary traders. This included the execution of strategy, establishing; reviewing; and monitoring risk limits for individual traders and aggregate team position; reporting to senior management on performance and risk management.
John is one of Australia's most successful proprietary traders. His reputation within the Australian equities market is well known. A summary of John's Citigroup Global Markets eight year track record can be provided if required.
Gerard McMahon (Senior Derivatives Trader)
Prior to joining Fortitude Capital, Gerard was a Divisional Director of Macquarie Bank and Head of the International Trading Desk, Equity Markets Group. He has an extensive track record as a senior derivatives trader and risk manager. As a disciplined and motivated professional, he has made a successful career out of formulating financial targets and delivering on them.
During his 16 years at Macquarie Bank, Gerard;
- Established a proprietary trading and equity derivatives business.
- Established a 24hour trading desk covering Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, UK, Europe and the USA
- Traded relative value, cash, statistical and risk arbitrage, pair, and dual listed trading, product issuance and volatility trading.
- Managed a trading team of 10 equity derivative and cash traders with a market share of 30%.
Darren Raward (Credit Analyst )
Prior to joining Fortitude Capital, Darren was the Director of Capital Market Origination with nabCapital. He has an extensive quantitative skill set which allows him to analyse and manage credit, interest rate and equity risk associated with high yield and convertible arbitrage portfolios.
During his time at nabCapital Darren responsibilities included;
- Promoting the Banks� hybrid security capabilities to domestic and offshore corporations.
- His role included marketing, security structuring, cross border tax and structured finance, regulatory and compliance rules, documentation and prospectus preparation.
- Running and maintaining hybrid securities trading book.
- Managing all risk exposures
- Developed and maintained hybrid/convertible quantitative pricing models.
Darren Raward holds a Bachelor of Business Major in Economics and Finance from the Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia.
Sheriden Hure (Market Analyst - M&A)
Sheriden holds a Bachelor of Finance (Newcastle) and is a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia having recently completed her Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investments.
Prior to Fortitude Capital, Sheriden worked in a Graduate Analyst role with Mark Hancock an insurance actuary at the listed investment company Loftus Capital Partners Limited.
Sheriden, after a 2 year training program at Fortitude Capital specializes in M&A transactions within the Australian equity market. Under the guidance of John Corr, Sheriden analyses the terms and conditions of each announced M&A transaction and in consultation with the portfolio managers, executes the transaction within strict guidelines in regards to position size, price and holding period. The study of the terms and conditions includes settlement time frame, adverse market conditions and industry trends.
Primary duties include:
- Operation and monitoring of risk systems
- Monitoring exposures, performance and strategies
- Currency hedging
- Monitoring corporate actions
- Excel modelling for existing and potential positions
- Reporting functions
- Market surveillance
Andrew Ward (Market Analyst - Convergence Trading)
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Post Graduate in Accounting from the University of Cape Town.
Prior to joining Fortitude Capital Andrew worked as a senior auditor for Ernst and Young Sydney
Andrew has been with Fortitude Capital for 12 months and has been instrumental in providing existing clients with accurate P&L estimate on a weekly basis, his duties include;
- Operation and monitoring of risk systems
- Monitoring exposures, performance and strategies
- Reconciling PB and Fortitude position statements
- Monitoring cash and funding requirements
- Reporting functions
- Reconciling administrators NAV statements with internal estimates
Graham Isbister (Analyst)
Graham holds a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics & Statistics) from Sydney University.
Prior to joining Fortitude Capital, Graham worked for Australia's largest bookmaker and was responsible for research and risk management. Graham will undertake a graduate training program within the company.
Graham's role within the company will be initially concerned with;
- Operation and monitoring of risk systems
- Monitoring exposures, performance and strategies
- Reconciling PB and Fortitude position statements
- Monitoring cash and funding requirements
- Reporting functions
- Reconciling administrators NAV statements with internal estimates
